20th June was results day. I was over the moon to get Firsts in the work I had submitted. This definitely filled me with confidence and motivation for the upcoming year at University. I wasn't expecting to get 76 points, especially in my essay, but it was nice to know that the hard work paid off!
During studio practice, I feel like I developed a personal group of characteristics for the development of a studio art practice - materials, tapes, restricted colour, geometric forms and processes of working from ideas to realisation are developing well. The research I did was relevant (most of the time) and I tried to make sure the references I applied to the work were good and appropriate. I will continue to do this over the next two years and I will really try to challenge myself to reflect on these more with my own thoughts and conclusions about what they are did or are doing.
After reading my feedback from my CPIC tutor, I think my analysis of quotations and references was the strongest part of my essay. This section really helped me to explore underlying theories and debates in circulation around contemporary art practices today. My tutor said ''Your essay provides some interesting examples and you analyse these as part of an ongoing exploration of binary oppositions. This helps you to explore some of the motivations behind 1970s feminist art practices, as well as to critically consider ways in which artists can, through their work, critically comment on the societal norms and divisions in gender and sexuality.''
Next year I will make a special effort to reference my work correctly, using the APA referencing system. I also think it would be helpful to double check my use of in-text citations, in the main body of my writing, in order for me to achieve a higher mark this time next year.
